“I Only Have 5 Minutes. I Can’t Start Anything Now.” Bite-Sized Affiliate Marketing Extreme

Have you ever been in that situation?

You had five minutes… Maybe you had to leave for work. Maybe dinner was almost ready.

There were so many things you would love to do.

Most of all, you would love to get into a routine of making a passive affiliate marketing income. But with only five minutes here and there? Impossible.

What if it was not impossible?

What if you could actually create a side hustle and make extra money in tiny bite-sized timeslots? This is bite-sized affiliate marketing extreme. And yes, it is possible.

Extreme Goals Demands Extreme Measures

You want to accomplish things.

You want to run an affiliate business in 5-minute time-bites. That is doable. But it is also very demanding.

On the other hand, the reward is huge.

First, you must find out how many 5-minute pockets you can find during a day. It is best to write it down every time you have spare time during your day. Repeat this daily for a week.

Now take the total number of minutes or 5-minute bites and divide it by seven.

Now you know how much time you have daily.

Let Us Take a Practical Example

Let us assume that you have the following small pockets of time where you have nothing else to do. Time you would normally waste and use to check Facebook. All the below numbers are 5-minute timeslots.

  • Monday: 9
  • Tuesday: 6
  • Wednesday: 6
  • Thursday: 8
  • Friday: 10
  • Saturday: 8
  • Sunday: 9
  • Total: 56 (280 minutes)
  • Daily average: 8

So on average, you have 40 minutes daily to work on your affiliate business.

This is doable. 40 minutes daily is a nice minimum to go for. Less, and you will not accomplish much. More and it gets better and better.

But 40 minutes for now will do.

Set your Goal Based On Your Average Daily Available Minutes

You need to set a realistic goal.

It should be something you can achieve without overwhelming yourself. And without disappointing yourself for not reaching it. The best way to do this is to time yourself doing the desired activity.

There are certain steps you must take to make an affiliate income. They are:

  • Finding an overall topic (this is a one-time activity).
  • Finding a product that will solve a problem.
  • Get to know the product.
  • Write about the topic.
  • Send traffic to your product or opt-in page for your mailing list.

Next, estimate how long each step will take.

You will not know how long it will take to go through a product and get to know it, until you have chosen the product. But you can decide beforehand that you will not accept products that take you more than, for example, 30 minutes to go through.

30 minutes means six timeslots used. Or ¾ of a whole day’s average minutes.

Find out how much time you need weekly to perform the tasks.

This overview tells us that we have two spare timeslots for when something goes wrong.

Now that you know how many slots you have per day and how many you need, you can spread the tasks out over the week.

Make sure to place the daily tasks first. Writing and promoting your product and sending traffic each takes three slots.

Make another table with each task and each day of the week to make sure you get everything done.

Since you only need to find the topic once, it may make more sense to do it before you start the week.

So during the first week, you should aim at finding the overall topic and finding and getting to know the first product. That way you can start writing about it and promoting it the following week.

And we have some free slots ready for the unexpected.

Lots of numbers to keep track of. I know. But once you set this up for your own system, it will make sense.

And it is important that you know exactly what you need to spend time on that day to make this system work.

Fasten Your Seatbelt

When you start up this system, your first week is easy.

Spend 3 x 5 minutes finding the overall topic. Spend another3 x 5 minutes finding a product that solves a problem in that niche. And finally spend 6 x 5 minutes on getting to know that product so you can write about it the following week.

Before every task you do, set a timer.

You are going to sprint. This means laser focus on the task at hand. And a good way to obtain that is to have a ticking timer running.

You have done your calculations.

You know what to do each day. So when you sit down Monday morning, following this example, you spend the first three slots by finding a product that solves a problem in your audience.

You start looking when you start the timer, and you stop the moment it goes off.

You cannot do anything else during that time. This means disconnecting your phone, not using your email program, Facebook or anything distracting.

Keep the TV turned off and tell your family that you will be busy the next five minutes.

After the time is up, go on to what you have to do next. This will give you a break from the extreme bite-sized work. When you have the next free slot, you continue.

What If Something Goes Wrong?

Something will go wrong.

This is life, and life happens.

If you can build a buffer into your system, it is great. In the example, you had two free slots Friday and three Sunday. You can use those to catch up when something did not go as planned.

Or you may need to skip a timeslot once in a while. Only send traffic for 2 x 5 minutes one day instead of 3 for example.

The best thing you can do is to plan the whole system as detailed as possible, so it is fast to do, and then to stay flexible when things go wrong.
